Health Economics in developing countries
Topic: a paper prepared for the Commission on Health Research for Development
Author(s): Brian Abel-Smith
Place: Dorset
Organization: Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene
Description: The learning brief focuses on the process which took place to develop the Ghanaian – Dutch Research Cooperation Programme, and on the lessons learned from this process. The programme argues that demand-driven health research can be effective and possible if all stakeholders in the process can agree on the national organisation of a programme for health and development. Such a programme would stimulate a research agenda based on societal needs, which in turn would steer research for development.
