The activities they have been involved since, include the participation of COHRED at the ACHR meeting last November in Panama, the joint organization in Havana during the Forum 2009 of the Follow up Meeting to the Rio Conference, , the development of the Health Research Web Americas, and an active search of information and documents in the region to upload to the participating countries sites, and training on the use of the Health Research Web to interested countries.

Countries want to take charge of their affairs. To do this they need to develop a cadre of African research and innovation managers, and seriously consider the potential of regional cooperation.

COHRED and the West African Health Organization (WAHO) have signed a cooperation agreement to support the region’s 15 countries to increase the capacity of their research organisations to produce evidence that meets these populations’ priority health needs.

The partnership kicked-off in January with a regional consultation between policy and research teams from countries in the region.
