Research for Health Africa
As research and innovation are key drivers of development, strengthening national research governance provides both an effective means and practical course of action to increase technical, social and economic development. However, many African countries currently lack the infrastructure and mechanisms to exercise the governance needed.
The R4HA team works with countries to help them:
• Define national research priorities to establish a national research agenda
• Build a research management information system
• Develop a policy framework
• Strengthen research infrastructure
Working initially with three African countries: Mozambique, Senegal and Tanzania R4HA offers countries an opportunity to work together, share experiences and create momentum as they build national systems for managing research and innovation.

“R4HA supported us in understanding our priorities for research system strengthening. This led us to the decision to set up a Council for Research for health to help coordinate research efforts in Senegal.
