Geneva, 20/02/2013 – From 26 to 27 March 2013, the Council on Health Research for Development (COHRED) in collaboration with the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health, will jointly host the third COHRED Colloquium in Geneva, Switzerland. This edition of the Colloquium will focus on the investments that are required in research and innovation for health in order to meet the needs of low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

The Colloquium will explore the prospects of what it is that needs to be done by LMICs in order for them to secure sustainable investments that can be used to address their main healthcare challenges. The meeting is expected to provide participants with an opportunity to help define the contents of a report, to be published in The Lancet on 3rd December 2013, on the current and future policies for addressing both infectious and non-communicable global health problems.

Participants at the Colloquium will include influencers from research institutions, business, social enterprises, civil society organisations, governments, international organisations, funders and the media. The event will bring together participants – from LMICs and high income countries – thereby creating an avenue through which they can generate new insights, and create possibilities for future partnerships.
